a dress made of landscape

Created during my residency at OBRAS in Portugal, A Dress Made of Landscape grew out of a desire to wear the landscape against my skin. Using silk organza bearing botanical imprints, I made a dress that extends my work into movement. Traces of plants meet the skin, while the fabric’s transparency allows body and landscape to flow through one another. A series of photographs and videos made in the Alentejo extends this experience: wearing the dress, I return to the places where it took shape, almost merging with my surroundings.
